Beware this popular marketing scheme. While doing a market survey, I recently asked a well known and very popular SEO firm for a quote on marketing one of my website's.
Their quoted price was $800 for 20 top 10 listings, GUARANATEED!
Tip: Ask the company what you will be ranking for?
Unfortunately, 9 times out of 10, a company that is guaranteeing your rankings is actually guaranteeing you will rank for your own company name. This means that the people on the top 10 search engines will have to know your name and type it into the search engine before searching. This will not produce new visitors to your site. (ex. This website, kki-consulting.com, would easily be ranked in the top 10 for "KKI-Consulting", on all of the top 10 search engines. According to this popular SEO companies quote, this would count as 10 of my "20 Top 10 Listings, Guaranteed!")
The truth is that as soon as your site is indexed you stand a very good chance of ranking in the top 10 for your company name, if not first, because it is unique.Guaranteeing rankings is highly unethical!
